Systematic Destruction Of Middle Class In the U.S. Does Not Bode Well For The Country’s Future
Michael Snyder wrote in an article named, 22 Statistics That Prove The Middle Class Is Being Systematically Wiped Out Of Existence In America, ”The truth is that the middle class in America is dying — and once it is gone it will be incredibly difficult to rebuild.” He described how a select group of people is accumulating unprecedented wealth, never realizing that they are building their castles on sand, since a flourishing middle class is the bedrock foundation on which continuing sustenance of economic prosperity of a nation depends.
The Wall Street model of business had envisioned that the U.S. would always be ahead with innovation, and the country could preserve its prosperity by simply maintaining control on the financial sector. In its myopic vision the corporate leaders do not take into account the long history of human progression through the ages, and how society transformed from the agro base culture, through the industrial revolution, to the technology based civilization, where the middle class always took pioneering role.
A 2002 United Nations study reported, “South Korea has the most effective education system in the world's richest countries, with Japan in second place and the United States and Germany near the bottom.” The diehard patriots need only look at the U.S. school systems and its downward spiral, and couple that with dwindling investments in research in the public sector, to visualize the country’s future.
With compliant self promoting politicians in tow, the plutocrats dismantled all regulations one after another, and created gigantic monopolies. Then they exported jobs for cheap labor to increase corporate bottom lines and the stakeholder’s earnings, while the unsuspecting American workers were too busy focusing on non-issues such as guns, gays and God.
Paul Craig Roberts, an Assistant Secretary in the Reagan Administration painted a bleak scenario for future America. He wrote, “America’s collapse occurred when government ceased to represent the people and became the instrument of a private oligarchy. Decisions were made in behalf of short-term profits for the few at the expense of unmanageable liabilities for the many.”
The sooner the realization sets in among the elite class that a flourishing middle class is the bed rock foundation on which continuing sustenance of economic prosperity of a country depends, the better it is for the future of this nation.
