Sarah Palin Fights the Wrong Fight

Sarah Palin does whatever it takes to grab headlines and cause chaos in the blogosphere. She demonstrated this with tweets last week defending Dr. Laura Schlessinger's "n" word tirade that ended with Schlessinger's resignation from talk radio.

There are a few things going on here that need to be looked at. First, public attention should follow public service. Palin puts the cart before the horse. While she served in public office as governor of Alaska she went relatively unnoticed. Presidential candidate John McCain changed that when he selected her as his running mate in his bid for president. Like most politicians, she loves center stage and stirring up controversy to demagogue opponents. She defends bad behavior to indulge herself in the glow of the spotlight.

Take a look a Palin's tweets:

1) "Dr. Laura: don’t retreat…reload!" Palin wrote on Wednesday. "Steps aside bc her 1st Amend.rights ceased 2exist thx 2activists trying 2silence 'isn’t American, not fair.'"

2) "Dr.Laura=even more powerful & effective w/out the shackles, so watch out Constitutional obstructionists. And b thankful 4 her voice,America!"

Michael Richards (you know him as Jerry Seinfeld's quirky neighbor, Kramer) proved with his November 2006 racist rant that Americans don't have the stomach for the "n" word in public conversation. It should probably be added to George Carlin's list of seven words that can't be said on television.

Palin acts like an immature shock-jock; her methods ripped off from that other "champion" of first amendment rights, Howard Stern. This isn't leadership. She's a bully. Ever since her introduction onto the national scene and consequent loss of the 2008 presidential election, she's painted a bulls-eye on this country's first African-American president. Palin's defense of Dr. Laura's use of such a profane word in public showcases her true disdain for President Barack Obama.

I wonder how many more gaffes she has to make before Palin is asked to resign. My mistake, she already resigned as governor of Alaska. What is it she does? Is she doing anything from which she can resign? Does anybody know what she actually does?
