President ObamaPresident Obama was awarded the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize for his diplomatic response to global issues and 'cuz he's a cool cat. Along with the prestige of this award comes $1.4 million in prize money to the winner. So what has the President decided to do with that fat stash of cash? Good things of course! A list of charities and the amount they will receive has been made public and it reads like a who's who of diversity and multi-cultural awesomeness.

Regardless of what people might think of his policies and his presidency, few could argue with his choice in charities.

Here's the full list:

$250,000 to Fisher House - a non profit which provides housing assistance to military personnel and their families while they are receiving medical care.
$200,000 to Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund - the fund put together by Presidents Clinton and Bush to aid in the Haitian earthquake relief effort

$200,000 to College Summit - non-profit which focuses on preparing graduating high school students to become college ready.

$125,000 to The Posse Foundation - a foundation which awards scholarships to students who excel in academics and leadership, who might otherwise not be part of the regular college selection process.

$125,000 to The United Negro College Fund - college scholarship fund geared toward African American students, that helps thousands of students attend college each year.

$125,000 to The Hispanic Scholarship Fund - college scholarship fund geared toward Hispanics students that helps thousands of students attend college each year.

$125,000 to the Appalachian Leadership and Education Foundation - college scholarship fund that helps students from Appalachia thousands of students attend college each year.

$125,000 to the American Indian College Fund - college scholarship fund that helps thousands of American Indian students attend college and "accredited tribal colleges" and encourages cultural awareness within the American Indian community.

$100,000 to AfriCare - provides aid to impoverished nations of Africa, focusing on sub-Saharan region, including resources for AIDS/HIV education, health, clean water and agriculture.

$100,000 to the Central Asia Institute - a literacy and education based group which helps to provide education for those areas hit by war and poverty, such as Pakistan and Afghanistan, with a focus on making education accessible for girls.

There you have it, with the exception of perhaps Iceland, President Obama managed to give to virtually every ethnic-based philanthropic organization on the planet.  Rock on Mr. President!
