Dear Sarah Palin Haters:

Your obsession with Mrs. Palin has officially become a 24-hour, seven day a week problem. You no longer can be trusted to walk the earth without the rest of us getting worried for your mental health. To obsess so heavily over someone is plain weird. It’s almost as though millions of you have nothing better to do than hate her, her family and even her disabled son.

In no way am I saying you have to like Mrs. Palin as a candidate or even as a public figure. We live in a free nation where we choose how we vote and whom we choose to trust with our great nation. And for those that don’t find her appealing, I can accept that.

What I can’t figure out is your constant obsession. You say she’s stupid, couldn’t govern, and you don’t agree with her “values.” You say she’s xenophobic and a dolt. You say she tries to scare Americans into an isolationist mentality. You say she’s a hypocrite for being conservative and yet having a daughter who became a teenage mother.

Ok, so what? If that’s all true, why are you bothering with even talking about her? Why do Hollywood celebrities and opinionated cable news hosts make it their goal to continually destroy any ounce of respectability she has? Why is it worth so much time, effort and money to even bother?

The only conclusion my feeble, public university-educated mind can come to is that you actually fear her. And when I say fear, I don’t mean you fear she’ll lead our country and ruin our political system. We all know – even those that like Governor Palin – she won’t be President. Maybe I am proven wrong, but I don’t think it’s in the cards.
