Hey Obama, How About a Christmas Bonus?
Sales of previously owned homes have dropped to their slowest pace in 15 years, according to a report issued by the National Association of Realtors.
Every time I read another article like that I come to one conclusion, President Obama and most of our elected officials have no clue how to really fix our economy. They have tried many things, some which have worked, and others that have failed horribly. I could go on and on about why I think this program or that incentive didn't work, but I won't. The failures aren't what bother me, although they did when they happened. What bothers me is the fact President Obama and his staff don't seem to notice what does work. Our government has lost touch with reality. They, for the most part, aren't as worried about their finances as most of us are.
The new home buyer's credit, and the clunker trade-in plan, both generated new sales. What do we learn from this ? Americans love a sale, a bargain, a deal. Times are tough at home, more people are using coupons and sales to make their purchases. The reason, I feel, we are seeing more people put more money than ever into their savings is they are being more careful with their money. It's not really that they are saving it, they are just being more careful about what they buy.
If President Obama gave every tax paying citizen $250 dollars, how many do you think would put it into savings? I would bet not many. If he gave that same money to everyone a month before Christmas, how many do you think would spend it on presents? Probably most, so how about a holiday stimulus? You might say, where is this money coming from? I don't know, but I also don't know where the bailout money came from either. What I do know is the money would go back into the economy. Again, I'm not sure where the bailout money went.
I truly believe Americans like to spend money, and the more money they have, the more they'll spend. Why our leaders don't see that I don't know. This belief I have also leads me to believe if we were given tax cuts, we would spend the money. I would!
