District Court Judge Fred Biery Prohibits School District Graduation Prayer and Instigates Righteous Indignation
U.S. District Court Judge Fred Biery in Texas has ordered a school district in that state not to utter any prayers at the school graduation ceremony. Further, this individual has also sent down a ruling against saying certain religious words like “amen”, “prayer”, “invocation”, “benediction”, etc., at the penalty of incarceration or contempt of court.
It should be no surprise that Judge Biery was appointed to his present position by none other than former President Bill Clinton, a man who has gone to great unashamed lengths to demonstrate his complete lack of moral fiber in public.
There has erupted an intense outcry over this judge’s ruling and rightly so. However, it is no longer enough to cry out in protest over every outrage against freedom. Liberty, justice, righteousness and societal propriety demand action. Judge Biery’s rulings—all of them--should be made subject to judicial review and he should be held to account either with censure or impeachment proceedings. Because the U.S. House of Representatives has historically shown a reluctance to prosecute a Federal Judge unless that person is already in prison, another method of removal proposed by William Rehnquist and Steven D. Smith, a writ of scire facias brought before a federal court, may need to be employed.
There are a number of issues that this latest insult brings to the fore. First, there have been, and will always be, attacks against our Constitutional freedoms and we were warned by our Founding Fathers to be on our guard against them. Second, we must no longer settle for vocal protestations against these incursions. For too long, we, the Silent Majority, have sat back and shook our heads while evil gained a foothold in our great nation and perverted our very foundations. As has been said many times and yet not enough times, all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing, Edmund Burke, 1729-1797.
