Tackling Climate Change at a Spiritual Level
There is a vast difference between the discussions on climate change that are taking place nowadays in advance of the Copenhagen climate summit and those that used to take place a few years ago, when many were still unwilling to admit that – global climate is undergoing unprecedented change. Yet, most of the discussions on climate change and the recent rise in natural disasters still miss something of key importance to the debate and to the ultimate solution for stabilizing the world’s climate – and that is the role of spiritual factors in causing the present state.

There seem to be 3 main spiritual factors related to today’s natural disasters and climate change that spiritual authorities agree on:
1. An overall decline of collective spiritual consciousness over time has resulted in the selfishness and unrighteousness which are prevalent in the world today
2. The gradual increase in spiritual pollution has started spilling over into the physical plane and is, among other things, manifesting itself in the form of natural disasters and climate change.
3. In order to sustain, or bring about any sort of positive turn in the long term - it is imperative that we work on our individual spiritual upliftment.
Without a spiritual perspective, and appropriate individual action – the negotiations, agreements, money and human effort that are being invested into tackling climate change have a high chance of failing, or at best remaining limited both in scope and time.
