Being that I walk around with a curly afro most days because I’ve learned to LOVE my natural hair texture.

It’s nearly a full-time job finding products that work to tame my hair so it is at least manageable during the day. I’ve tried the most expensive products out there at $40 a bottle, where you require 2-3 bottles of their different types of product to see “maximum” effects. Even with those products, my hair still had a natural tendency to become dry, frizzy and crispy. All curly girls have gone through these hair problems at least once in their life!

Sophie (she knows that I’m mainly raw vegan), she’s always excited to tell me about some new raw vegan products she comes across. She shared one of these product with me:

Morroco Method shampoo. At first, I was thinking that if she uses it, and it works on her completely straight, blond hair, then how could it possibly work with my super-curly prone-to-dryness hair?

I decided to get over my skepticism and give it a shot. Not only do I use very little shampoo (about the size of a nickel in my palm) for my entire head of thick, long hair, it washes out so easily and elongates every strand!

This is necessary because once my hair dries, my curls tend to scrunch together. Curly hair should also not be washed with harsh detergents; since this product only contains a mixture of vinegar, algae, moss, soap bark, aloe and minerals, I didn’t have any concerns about it drying my hair out to the point of no return.

Now, that’s Part A of my process. Part B is the conditioning. Ecological Economical is a locally made (in Ontario), biodegradable, simply made product. I go through a full palm of it with each conditioning, and it keeps the length in my curls. It has three main ingredients, is scent free (I’m sure you could add an essential oil to it if you wanted a bit of smell to your hair), and washes out clean.
