Home Improvement Retail Giant Recycles

Lowe’s Companies Inc. said today that it has installed recycling centers in nearly 1,700 U.S. stores to provide a one-stop recycling destination for customers.
Lowes is going beyond recycling the shipping materials such as pallets, wraps and cardboard, that it receives as inventory. Now, Lowe’s stores offer to recycle hard-to-handle products like mobile phones, batteries and CFL bulbs, making it more convenient for consumers who choose to recycle.
Michael Chenard, Lowe’s director of environmental affairs, said that the company is always looking to improving service for its customers as well as achieving a greater level of earth-friendliness. “Recycling is a simple way to help reduce unnecessary waste in our communities. The recycling centers make it easier for customers to make a difference, and we look forward to continuing to partner with them to promote and support community recycling.”
Call2Recycle is the company that will handle phones and batteries collected through Lowe's recycling centers.
Let's hope other major retailers will join the recycling effort to reduce landfill waste and pollution; as more places offer recycling services and make the process easier on consumers, perhaps more people will recycle.
