Eco-Friendly Crayons
Crazy Crayons recycles, makes, and sells 100% recycled crayons that make coloring creative for both children and adults.
These hand crafted crayons are made from unwanted crayons collected by the National Crayon Recycle Program, which means the crayons get saved from being buried in landfills. They are hand made, so no two are alike and they come in 26 colors, hundreds of shapes and themes, all of which are certified non-toxic.
True to its earth friendly claim that they take waste very seriously, the organization packages the crayons in earth friendly packaging made of post-consumer recycled material.
All purchases support the Crayon Recycle Program.
As of July, 2010, they've collected over 55,000 pounds of unwanted crayons from schools, restaurants and many caring organizations across the America.
In addition to working just as well as non-recycled crayons, Crazy Crayons can become a teaching tool to educate the young in the importance of reduce, reuse, and recycle.
It's very easy to participate in the crayon recycling program, check out the Recycle Program page.
Why does this program matter?
More than 12 Million Crayons are made in the US, each day. That's 60 tons of crayons made every day with petroleum based wax that eventually ends up in our landfills where they don't belong.
The recycling program asks that restaurants, schools, parents, who buy crayons buy American made crayons. They will sort out and discard crayons made in China and other foreign countries because they may contain lead or plastics.

Does your home or your child's school or daycare use it? Ask for it so that you and your family can contribute to lessening the pressure on virgin sources as well as support the growth of local recycling centers, which qualifies as a source of green jobs.
