Curious Eaters - Common Raw Questions Answered
When people at my workplace, or anywhere else I bring my own prepared foods, watch me eat, they usually stare in amazement… Here are the common questions I get, with the corresponding answers:
Do all those veggies really fill you up?
YES! I eat a lot by volume, but eating mainly vegetables means that my caloric intake is really low, so I eat many meals throughout the day, not just your standard breakfast, lunch and dinner. Here are some photos of some of my standard meals:

My five minute lunch consisting of tomatoes, sprouted chick peas and sliced heirloom carrots. A quick sauce of some soy sauce mixed with lemon juice and I'm off to the races!

This is my root veggie power salad consisting of beets, carrots, parsnip and some seaweed that was soaked for two minutes. Again, only 10 minutes to prepare, then straight to my tummy.

This is my favorite classic green salad, but with some different ingredients. Instead of classic iceberg lettuce, I've mixed arugula, escarole and spinach with tomato, cucumber and avocado. A little bit of lime juice and soy sauce, with fresh dill (or any other herb you love) and you've got a filling and tasty salad. Prep time is about five minutes... six if you peel the cucumber :)
Where do you get your protein?
There are so many sources of protein in any diet, this one just seems the most intuitive. Nuts, seeds, sprouted beans and grains (like lentils, chick peas, mung beans, quinoa). The one that’s the least intuitive is VEGETABLES. Did you know that mostly all vegetables contain some amount of protein?
The other wonderful thing about the human body is that our body recycles most of the amino acids from the broken proteins we use each day, so we actually don’t need that large an amount of protein to replenish our systems. Want proof? Check out Brendan Brazier’s vegan diet and lifestyle; he is another walking example that non-animal protein is amazing on the human body.
How do you “not” cook?
It’s actually pretty easy. Considering that I’m also a greenie, think about the energy I save by using my stove only to make tea! Once you see the physical energy you gain by having foods in your system that are so easy to digest, you don’t want anything else.
