Convert a Carnivore, Save the Earth
There is a movement by some to give up meat and lower carbon footprints as a result. A restaurant in San Francisco is taking things a step further by offering 25% off of your bill if you bring a meat eater in on the second Wednesday of every month. The tactic is called "Convert a Carnivore Day."
Located in Hotel California, Millennium Restaurant provides seasonal, sustainable, fresh, organic vegetarian food as much as possible. Genetically modified foods are never offered, and animal-fat products and oils aren't used either. Additionally, composting, recycling, supporting local, small agriculture are all part of the restaurants strategy. According to an article on TreeHugger, the owners figure, that not only are they practicing good eco-habits, but they are also betting that carnivores will be hard pressed to say that they still want meat, after eating at Millennium. The owners think that the meat eaters will also make an effort to come back to the establishment after their first go around.
The restaurant offers private dining rooms for groups of up to 60 people and offers a selection of organic wines and organic spirits. Additionally, Millennium also offers specially prepared menus for Aphrodisiac Nights, cooking classes, and more.
