Clothes So Sweet You Can Almost Eat ‘Em: The Laundry Tarts

I’m always on the hunt for household solutions that work as well (or even better!) than their conventional counterparts. If you were to look in my house from one end to the other, I’ve removed all chemically-based cleaners. I now favor vinegar, alcohol, peroxide, baking soda, and tea tree oil as natural disinfectants and cleaners, and make everything I use to clean each room of my house.

There are still two household cleaning products that I buy from the store – my laundry wash and dishwashing liquid. Luckily, I’ve just discovered a new laundry wash that needs to be talked about:

At the LiveGreen Festival here in Toronto a few weeks back, I discovered The Laundry Tarts and their all natural, locally made laundry soaps. Of the three scents listed above, my favorite is the Black Forest Cake. Now, I was very skeptical at first; the directions say that 2 tablespoons of the soap will clean a small load (which is all I have, considering I’m a single gal). But, not only did that amount get my clothes just as clean as using a conventional product, they also did smell good enough to eat!

What I love about these natural detergents is that while it leaves a slight delicious scent, it by no means is like the perfumy conventional products that tend to leave an overpowering, chemical-smelling scent, that stays even with numerous washes of scent-free detergent. You have to think, if that scent persists in your clothes so long, wouldn’t it also persist in your body after being absorbed by your skin?

Another reason I love this detergent? The Laundry Tarts partnered with my ALL TIME FAVORITE body soap maker, Ella's Botanical's for the soap base; it's the only soap I've used for over a year now, so I know I can trust them :)

Rather than continue my rant on why I don’t buy conventional soaps anymore, I’m going to sign off by singing the praises of The Laundry Tarts – thank you ladies for making a product that’s so well thought out, great for the environment, and yummy enough to make me want to go out and get some dessert!
