If you have ever been so fortunate as to spend a night under the warm embrace of a down comforter then you know just how satisfying this type of bedding can be. Whether it is because you suffer from allergies that keep you away from synthetic and chemically produced bedding, or some just prefer the feel of luxury bedding. Whatever the case it is easy to see that we love our down comforters.

But, what many people do not know is how to properly care for their duvets. Unlike most bedding the price you pay for a down comforter is only the tip of the ice berg. They have a tendency to get dirty and attract dirt very easily which is why they require cleaning at least 2 to 3 times a week. If you are careless and mistakenly put them in the washer machine, chances are you will regret it. Because these comforters are very fragile and can rip and tear easily, and if somehow they miraculously make it out without ripping, they will be covered in millions of little lint balls that will be next to impossible to remove.

If you want to keep your bed looking good but, do not want to break the bank on expensive dry cleaning bills here are a few tips. Whenever you are not in the bed place an old sheet over top of it. This will help stop it from attracting too much dirt and lint. Before you enter the bed make sure your feet are clean, by placing a towel next to your bed you can make sure not to track any dirt in the bed. But, for the best possible results use a comforter cover or more commonly known as duvet covers, over your bedding. Duvet covers come in a number of different styles, sizes, and colors. Also they are worn over the bedding the entire time so no need to remove them. By using a duvet cover over your comforters you can actually extend the life of your bed set.
