Cadillac DTS Ranked Most Reliable by J.D. Power

In its 2010 Vehicle Dependability Study, J.D. Power and Associates found seven of the 10 most-reliable vehicles in the study were manufactured either by Ford or General Motors.
Years after years J.D. Power and Associates have named brands such as Toyota, Lexus and even Hyundai as producer of most trouble free cars. Now for the first time in a decade they have picked the Cadillac DTS luxury sedan from GM as the most reliable car.
The study was based on a survey of more than 52,000 vehicles of 2007 model. The cars were checked for 198 different problem areas covering all aspects of automobile functionality during three years of service. The Cadillac DTS sedan reported 76 problems per every 100 vehicles against the industry average of 155.
To be fair, the study also mentioned that despite Toyota’s on going problems they are still among the most reliable car makers. In fact, Toyota took four segment awards, more than any other brand. The most significant finding nonetheless was that Cadillac, Hyundai, Ford, Lincoln and Mercury are all brands that have excellent long-term reliability but not customer recognition.
The biggest loser from this study was Chrysler, not even one of its model scored better-than-average dependability rating. Dodge and Jeep dropped several ranks this year; the Jeep taking a Lord-save-me 33rd place.
