When An American Blonde Turns Jihadist
Colleen R. LaRose, a blonde woman from Philadelphia, was indicted on Tuesday for attempting to recruit jihadists to murder a Swedish artist who slighted Prophet Muhammad with a cartoon.
In Sudan it is Christians and Muslims. In India it is Hindus and Muslims. In Pakistan it is Sikhs and Muslims. In Thailand it is Buddhists and Muslims. In the Middle East it is Jews and Muslims — the list goes on and on. When you analyze the cases of religious conflicts worldwide, chances are one of the parties involved is the adherents of Islam.
This self-proclaimed “Jihad Jane” who is not even a Muslim herself is taking up the cause of the Muslim fundamentalists to assassinate a Swedish cartoonist who had portrayed the Prophet Muhammad with the body of a dog!
What is going on here?
To a Muslim, Mohammad is the messenger of God; it is not the same with a non-Muslim. Why bother what a non-Muslim says about a revered prophet who was sent by God Himself for the benefit of mankind?
Agreed, fundamentalism is not limited to Muslims — all organized religions have their fair share of zealots. Yet no nation but Iran declared a bounty on a man’s head for religious blasphemy.
May I ask the sensible and dignified Muslims to come forward and express their aghast for such actions? Muhammad won the hearts of the Meccans not by sword but with compassion.
When Muhammad stood at the gate of Mecca, his generals were waiting for one order from him to decimate the city. The declaration came in: he said to the people of Mecca, "today I forgive you all." Can Muslims emulate him? Can we learn to forgive?
That indeed would be the greatest tribute to our prophet.
