Since When is Being Happy a Weird Thing?

At 8:30am on Monday mornings, I'm the person who ends up being the first one in the office, ready and raring to go, to start another week of connecting with businesses, people, and learning more than I did the week before.

So why is it that each day when I encounter people on the train, bus, streetcar, subway, walking past me on the way to work, people think I'm either crazy or missing a few marbles because I have a smile on my face?

In our current society, we either have to be striving for the latest and greatest and getting stressed in the process, or we're considered to be Neanderthals afraid of change. Well, I fall into neither category. I have chosen to live simply, and made the CHOICE to appreciate what I have, instead of what I don't have. By seeing the positive in things, I've also chosen to create an environment that keeps me happy and joyful, even when faced with trials and setbacks.

All I can hope for is that the next time I encounter somebody whose natural reaction is to snarl in my direction and be irate with my chipper attitude, my joy hits them so deeply that they let my happiness be infectious, be freed of all negative thoughts and just let go. They'll be surprised at how good they feel in the end.
