Today is a day of patriotism, honor, respect, celebration and remembrance. While many of you are at the beach, lake, or any other sunny locale, I hope that you take the time to read this and donate to one of these charities.

1. Armed Services YMCA: This organization does everything that they can to ensure that military families are taken care of at all times.

2. Semper Fi Fund: The charity makes sure that injured Marines are taken care of by providing them with immediate financial support.

3. Homes For Our Troops helps build specially adapted homes for veteranswho were disabled in war at no cost.

4. Operation Homefront mainly provides financial assistance to military families.

5. Fisher House builds special comfort homes for families to stay near injured loved ones near major VA and military medical centers.

6. Books for Soldiers provides soldiers with a variety of donated books for them to read during their downtime.

7. Operation Paperback provides books, magazines, DVDs, and many other forms of media to troops overseas.

So, in honor of Independence Day, consider contributing to one of these charities.
