The Olympics put international competition on a global stage and often times, the games spark a sense of nationalism unmatched in the periods between.

In fact, a new Zogby International pol that surveyed 2,068 adults online, reports that Americans are sensing a good deal of pride when the U.S. takes home a gold medal.

Nearly 9 in 10 adults agree with the statement, "I feel a sense of national pride when an American medals in the Olympics," with 50% strongly agreeing and 39% somewhat agreeing.

One of the more popular sports to watch is figure skating with with 25% overall selecting it as their favorite. A gender divide is evident, with women most likely to name figure skating (40%) and snowboarding (14%) as favorites, while and alpine skiing (12%) and ice hockey (11%) top the list for men.

Despite the affinity for figure skating, when asked what sports couch jockey's would like to try, the answer is far different —
20% responded that they would go bobsledding, while 16% would try curling, and 13% would hit the slopes on a snowboard.

Despite being drawn to the games and getting a sense of nationalism, viewers are lukewarm when it comes to the quality of the coverage by NBC.

Coverage received mostly positive reviews from 42% of those surveyed, with 11% saying coverage was "excellent" and 31% saying it was "good". An additional 37% report they had not watched enough Olympic coverage to judge.
