The Reverend Michael Corrigan of the Universalist’s Society, a spiritual congregation accepting people of all faiths and sexual orientations, said the Phoenix branch of the organization marched against the Arizona law, SB 1070, which goes into effect on July 29th, 2010. The law requires law enforcement to detain all persons suspected of being in the country without documents.

UniversalistsCorrigan related an incident in Phoenix where an undocumented mother of U.S. citizen children was marched across the border with only her shirt on her back. She had been in the U.S. for 35 years and was split from her children. She was left in a country she does not know and with no means of support.

Corrigan suggested main stream Americans can further the immigration cause by seeking-out undocumented immigrants.

“Listen to other people’s stories…which means you have to learn how to deeply listen and not just hear the surface things.”

The Front Range Bears is a social group appealing to mature gay men. The Four Players is a gay four wheel drive group that tours jeep trails to mining towns in the Spectacular Rocky Mountains. The majority of people interviewed in the Denver Pride event supported immigration rights.
