Gunman Holds Hostages at The Discovery Channel Headquarters
The Discovery Channel Headquarters in Silver Springs, Maryland is under siege by suspect, James Lee.
Lee, is an environmental protester who has been publishing criticisms of the network, according to law enforcement.
According to reports, Lee has a hand gun and also has something that the police are assuming are explosives. A bomb truck has been sent in from U.S. Capital Police. There is no word on what type of explosive threat they may be responding to. The truck is similar to a cement mixer, royal blue in color, and used for bomb containment.
The suspect is holding an unconfirmed number of hostages, including a building security guard in the lobby area.
The discovery Channel is still broadcasting, but most employees were evacuated in an orderly manner.
A month ago, Lee was arrested for littering in front of the Discovery Channel Headquarters, apparently stemming from throwing money into the air, according to reports.
UPDATE: Gunman, James Lee, 33 years old, has been shot by police officers. Lee, had held 3 hostages for several hours earlier today. According to officials his behavior had become increasingly erratic, which generating a great concern for the lives of the hostages.
