The Return of the Late Night Mistress

If you were like me, a young man growing up in the '80s/'90s with a thing for horror movies, then chances are you probably had a pretty huge crush on a little lady named Elvira.
Oh my lord, this woman was the definition of hot back then (and even still today), not because she had big...assets, but because she had a brain under that beehive hairdo and charismatic talent to go with it. Plus, how could you not love a wickedly dark sense of humor? Not only that, but she knew about all those crappy old horror movies that we loved to watch. She was THE perfect woman for any Halloween/Horror nut.
Good things don't last forever though and it was a sad day in TV history when I could no longer catch Movie Macabre on the old boob tube. Not even the tassel twirling scene in her movie could make up for that (link provided for the curious and uninitiated) though it certainly almost did.
That's all about to finally change though, because in exactly 19 days (as of September 6, 2010), Elvira will make her grand return to late night television with Elvira's Movie Macabre on September 25th, starting with the classic George Romero movie Night of the Living Dead. Zombies and Elvira at the same time? Be still my beating heart.
Sure it's going to have a slow start when it plays in only a few major cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta and Pittsburgh (check your local listings for exact times and stations). But she's back! And as the Mistress herself said "...It's about damn time!"
