Peer Abuse in Jersey?
The Style Network airs a show entitled Jerseylicious on Sunday evenings at 8pm EST. It revolves around a local salon which employ hairdressers and make-up artists. Plus, two other salons and all of the cast is connected to each other in some way. Some are friends while some cannot seem to get along. There are two women in particular named Tracy and Olivia. These two work at the Gatsby Salon
and have a Gatsby to Go business that is part of the salon. This recent episode I found to be particularly troubling.
Tracy and Olivia were at a local hospital giving women make-overs for their personnel work badges. Tracy brought an egg timer with them because she does not feel Olivia has good time management skills. As they were working on the women, Olivia’s boyfriend Mickey called and Tracy stated that she needed to turn the phone off even though Olivia was speaking for maybe 20 seconds. Also, he sent balloons to her while she was there which infuriated Tracy. It was Mickey and Olivia’s four month anniversary. Tracy was mumbling subtly under her breath and complaining about Olivia over and over again. Later that evening, Mickey and Olivia went out to a club to celebrate and they saw Tracy and her date there as well. Mickey and Olivia went over to them and offered an olive branch while Tracy kept stating “It is your anniversary and you are over here talking to me.” As in all reality television, we could not leave the scene without a fight. Mickey and Tracy’s fellow started getting in each other’s faces while Olivia and Tracy went after each other. Before we knew it, they had full-blown violence going on where bouncers had to step in, bystanders stood around and watched. After the fight, Olivia and Mickey left and she stated in a side bar “I take it and take it from her, but a person is going to take so much before they retaliate. That is what happened tonight.” Before the show went to commercial break, we saw Tracy lying on the floor. Olivia was visibly shaken by the experience.
