OK Family Jewels fans, the next episode with our favorite ego-maniac and his slightly unconventional family is coming up tomorrow, Sunday March 28th at 9pm on A&E.
For those of you who had the great misfortune to miss the first episode, let me catch you up to speed. Gene is on tour with the biggest, gaudiest LOOK AT ME tour bus on the face of the earth — everyone within 3 states can see him coming. Shortly after he leaves on tour, Shannon, his companion of 26 years (I apologize for shorting you three years in my 1st article) finds a lump in her breast.
Being the independent strong woman we know and love, she opts to handle this alone and ends up having to get a biopsy. Let me just note here, it takes incredible guts to not only go that alone, but to allow it to be filmed and be a powerful learning tool for women out there, put Shannon right up there with my very short list of heroes.
When the kids inadvertently find out about the biopsy she directs them not to tell Gene as she doesn't want him bothered on tour. But Nick, who is a damn good kid, calls his dad and fills him in.
The raw emotion caught on Gene's face as it sinks in that this could be serious, is what makes this docu-drama so very addicting. As famous as they are, the Demon, Shannon and the demon spawn are a real loving family that face trials in life together, just like the rest of us humans.
Next episode's tomorrow: Gene comes home to be with Shannon and they wait for the biopsy results. That's from 9-9:30pm. From 9:30-10pm we have the demon turning 60 with one kick ass KISS cake and one protesting birthday boy. This is the first time that all the KISS members appear on the show, so this is one show KISS fans definitely won't want to miss!
