Cheating? Tears? Drama? A New Season of Project Runway Begins!
Project Runway Season 8 premiers tonight with even more drama packed into a 90-minute format. This season the series starts with 17 designers, with the first episode acting somewhat like the last stage of the audition process, according to chief mentor, Tim Gunn.
There is never a shortage of drama in the workroom, and tonight is no exception. Old photos of the contestants are displayed in the workroom, as they are asked to utilize fabrics and designs that correspond to a memorable time in their lives. The design theme "A trip down memory lane" triggers unpleasant personal memories for some, causing a torrent of tears.
Drama appears to be cropping up on the other side of the runway as well. The celebrity judges, Heidi Klum, Michael Kors, and Nina Garcia, are still re-grouping from the awkwardness that was brought about when the ever tactful Gunn, called the group “crack-smoking judges." Gunn vented further, complaining, “I’ve never witnessed a season where I felt so disabled by what the judges have decided." Add all this to rumors surfacing that cheating is taking place in the workroom! A stern looking Klum appears in several videos of late, complaining, “What he did wasn’t right.” Well, now we know to look for a male involved in the shenanigans. The fun begins tonight at 9pm ET/PT, 8 Central on Lifetime.
