CBS Clearly Needs More Creative Talent

According to the Hollywood Reporter, CBS is going back to the Twitter well to fish for television comedy ideas.

Their latest genius idea is based on the Shh... don't tell Steve twitter feed where some dude tweets idiotic statements from his moronic roommate, Steve. Tweets such as this are the highlight of that feed, "Steve, just now, yelling from our bathroom: 'Total Asparagus pee bro! Come smell!'"

You know what I smell CBS? Crap. It's pungent and permeating around the room. Everyone smells it. ABC, FOX and NBC are all laughing at you right now since you have clearly run out of ideas for original comedies. You might have prime-time locked up in the way of dramas, but you are clearly lacking in the comedy department.

CBS may have shocked the world with their mining of the Shit my Dad Says Twitter feed to create a television program. That was until the critics saw the show, and now the audience has seen the show. What do you think? I think it's shit, I say.

Now, is it groundbreaking that CBS is integrating the social media environment with their television production? Perhaps, if they were looking for writers or talent, but a full on show based on 140 character tweets? You can cap that off in 22 minutes. And it's not like they haven't had successful comedies, Two and a Half Men, How I Met Your Mother and of course The Big Bang Theory. These are funny shows, based on original ideas with sharp writing. Of course, without these three factors, in order, they'd have failed: alcoholism, Neil Patrick Harris, Sheldon.

Shit CBS, you may as well hire me to write your programming based on my tweets. You know you like some #fuff. Not to blow too much smoke, but it's a hell of a lot funnier than asparagus pee. Now I'll admit, as a Twitter feed, Shit my Dad Says is funny. As a half hour television program starring the once respected (and now walking joke) William Shatner, it's crap.

Shh... Don't Tell Steve already has Aston Kutcher on board as an executive producer. It's not known when the show will air, or if a contract has even been signed, but they better hurry up and get it ready to go. It's only a matter of time before Shit My Dad Says is canned. They'll need something that is just as full of cheesy one-liners to fill the void.
