Carol Burnett Very Close to Playing Sue Sylvester's Mom on Glee
Fox's hit soap/comedy Glee just got a bit awesomer. Not a real word, but just go with it.
Like Betty White before her, comedianne-actress Carol Burnett is having her second act (or maybe it's her third or fourth at this point) with a guest spot playing the hard charging cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester's (Jane Lynch) Nazi-hunting mother. EW reported the news today, but it's not completely official, so we remain cautiously optimistic.
Lynch was just as pumped as we were about this brilliant casting prospect.
E! spoke with Lynch to discuss Carol Burnett's appearance and said this:
"I'm thrilled!...I love her. It would just be awesome if we did a song together!"
Like so many fans of comedy and the sassy red-head, Lynch watched The Carol Burnett Show and gladly pays homage to her idol:
"She's probably my first influence. I watched her show every Saturday night as a kid. My brother and I would act out some of the scenes. This is before VCRs, that's how old I am, We would actually tape record on an old tape recorder so we would listen to the skits. We just loved the show."
Oh hell, I am so glad I am not the only one who did dumb crap like that as kid. If those tapes were ever found, oh geez.
In any event, the Burnett appearance is said to take place in October or November. So full of win!
