A&E Brings Back Gene Simmons Family Jewels
The fifth season of Gene Simmons Family Jewels will premiere March 21st at 9pm ET/PT on A&E. They will be airing a special one-hour episode. For those unfamiliar with this particular reality TV show let me assure you, it is worth tuning in to.
Gene Simmons of mega Rock group Kiss and the 10 foot tongue seen round the world, stars with his less then conventional family. While Kiss continues to tour, real life at home carries on. His long term relationship (23 years) with former Playboy playmate Shannon Tweed, and his two children with her — Nick soon to be 21, and Sophie turning 17 — make up the jewels of this family.
They are warm, funny, close knit, and the blending of the two worlds makes this docu-drama sort of oddly and embarrassingly addicting. Not quite as embarrassing as Gene's really bad, thinning, shoe polish black hair that he refuses to cut into a normal style, but embarrassing none-the-less.
Watching Gene and Shannon undergo facelifts last season and his obsession with his 'schmeckle' (penis) were to say the least amusing. As big of a demon rock star he is, Shannon is very much the boss at home.
Gene's ridiculous over-protectiveness with his daughter (to the point of stalking) stems, I am sure, from his years on the road and his admitted promiscuity. He is well aware of what boys want.
There is a lot of good-natured ribbing of Gene from Shannon, Sophie and Nick who love to point out his workaholic, ego-maniacal ways. Despite all of that, he is a likable (without the demon make-up) man. All in all, glad to see A&E bringing them back for more.
Sunday March 21st 9pm, be there, or Gene will lick you with that unnaturally long ten foot tongue, yuck!
