Emmys, 62nd annual

Please don’t consider this a one-stop shop for all things Emmy. First of all, I caught 10% of The Pacific and nothing else from the mini-series and made-for-TV category. So this will have none of that — I won’t even fake it.

What this post will have is some excitement and some regret. First, the regret. I regret not writing something running up to the Emmys. You would have read the words of a man frightened that the wrong show or wrong performer would be awarded. This was not the case in just about every category, which is where my excitement comes in.

So without further ado, lets talk Emmy.

I kept a running tally on top of my notes: the two competitions for me were Modern Family vs. Glee, and Lost vs. The Field. We kicked things off early with all the comedy categories.

Eric StonestreetEric Stonestreet, as Cameron, won the best supporting actor award. He was one of three actors for Modern Family in this category. He didn’t wear a tie, which was surprising, but maybe he was trying to look like a man’s man to make sure women out there know he is, in fact, straight. MF 1 - Glee 0.

Right out of the gate, MF takes the first two awards, as Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd (NOT Doc Brown, as it turns out) win for best writing. MF 2 - Glee 0.

As predicted by absolutely everyone, Jane Lynch won for Glee. This is where I admit to watching five minutes of the show in my life. Sorry, but its true. They broke out into song and I couldn’t stand it. I might give it another shot, but it isn’t easy. That being said, I love Jane Lynch and would have picked her under any circumstance. One of those circumstances, by the way, was possibly seeing Sofia Vergara on stage in her dress. MF 2 - Glee 1.

I think the acceptable limit of exclamation points is three (!!!). You learn a lot about someone by how long they hesitate when asked, "What is your go to karaoke song?" (1. Lisa Loeb "Stay," 2. Anything found under Joel comma Billy). …
