Remember MySpace? Yea, you know, that site that took the web by storm and connected you and your friends like never before? Well, the MySpace brand has taken a back seat to Facebook (as the world knows), but their music service still beats a strong drum. MySpace Music, a venture with major music labels, is getting stronger now with the acquisition of iMeem.

MySpace Music has acquired iMeem’s assets and will transition its 16 million monthly users over to MySpace Music. One anticipated change from the acquisition is user playlists being migrated over. This could be an interesting move for the once vibrant MySpace brand hoping to retain its most valuable asset: bands looking to connect with fans.

Not surprisingly, iMeem fans seem a little cautious about the move. As is evident from tweets on the acquisition. Twitter user Amyet0511 tweeted:

"Imeem has teamed up with Myspace music I guess that is it for my use of imeem,"

However, iMeem tried to put users fears at ease with this Tweet:

"FYI, our plan is to let users enjoy their imeem playlists on MySpace Music as soon as possible. You are *NOT* losing your playlists."

What are your thoughts about the iMeem acquisition?
