Transformer 3 shoot in Chicago attribute to Bryan Glaser.

So there is going to be a Transformers 3 coming to theaters next summer. And there is a lot of buzz around my area about where the shooting for the blockbuster is taking place.

The movie is being shot in the windy city of Chicago. The crew for the third installment has been shooting scenes and closing off streets of the downtown area of the city for a little over a month now. This is an exciting time for Chicago to have a big project such as this going on. I think it helps bandage up the wounds the city suffered earlier this year when it lost a bid to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the 2016 Summer Olympics. That seemed to me to not only be a major ego blow to the city, but to the mayor. And to top that off, the Big O (Oprah Winfrey) decided to end her most popular talk show, which is also taped here in Chicago.

With this film being done here and the praises that are coming from the crew and producer, Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, is it now possible that Chicago can be revived.

Di Bonaventura states that he plans to spread the word in Hollywood of how well they were treated in the city. The city has had a lot of patience with all of the street closings and having to detour, especially on the weekends. The crew also did some shooting here in my city Gary, IN, which is about 20 miles from Chicago. I hate that I did not get the chance to personally stand out on Wacker Drive or Michigan Avenue to watch the filming, but I did get to see the set here in Gary by the Genesis Convention Center. There are fans of the film from the windy city who did get to see the filming and expressed their excitement of being able to see the work in progress.

The crew is wrapping up their filming this week and expect to be done around the first of September. All this has brought some serious funds to the city to the tune of $20 million and quite a few small businesses benefited from the shooting of the film, too. I look forward to watching the movie on the big screen next year when it comes out, in hopes of being able to say, "I know that place!"
