Interview: As Final Harry Potter Films Wrap, Cast Plan To Remain Friends
During the grand opening of Universal Orlando's Wizarding World of Harry Potter we were given a unique opportunity to sit down with most of the cast from the films. As a strange coincidence, the filming for the two-part finale of the film series ended (Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, Parts 1 and 2) as the new theme park opened.
The cast were in high spirits as they took in the festivities and the popularity — and obsession — with all things Harry Potter had not diminished. During the round robin with the cast, I had a chance to ask the second group, which consisted of Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom), Oliver and James Phelps (Fred and George Weasley), Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley), and Warwick Davis (Professor Flitwick).
One of the things I noticed about our interactions with the cast was how close they all seemed with one another - a kind of close that can only come from growing up together, under the glaring spotlight of stardom in what has become the most lucrative film and book franchise of all time. I asked the cast if they planned to remain friends, and they had a heartfelt, if not slightly cheeky response. The above video is from the meeting with the cast responding.
