Remembering Brittany Murphy
Hollywood actress Brittany Murphy was pronounced dead at 10.04am this morning. She was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical centre in Los Angeles after her husband of 2 years, Simon Monjack, allegedly made an emergency call around 8am. It is believed the actress died from cardiac arrest after her mother found her collapsed in the shower. It has been reported that the LAPD are investigating further into her death.
At 32 years of age Murphy was a popular actress and had also delved into the musical realm. She has been seen in the films Clueless with Alicia Silverstone, 8 Mile alongside Eminem and her latest film Abandoned, a thriller which is in post-production, has her starring alongside Dean Cain and Mimi Rogers.
Brittany's Clueless co-star Alicia Silverstone said:
“I always felt connected to her as we shared a very special experience in our lives together. I feel love in my heart for her – and hope she is at peace. This is truly sad. I loved working with Brittany. She was so talented, so warm and so sweet.”
Fellow actress Eliza Dushku has been quoted from her twitter page in relation to the recent death of the actress.
"My heart aches having just learned of Brittany Murphy's death. We were friends time-to-time thru the yrs. I always admired her pure spirit."
Jessica Simpson, who had never worked with Murphy, also added her thoughts on the situation saying,
"Brittany Murphy was an incredible ray of light to so many people. Her smile was contagious. My prayers are with her family and loved ones."
While it's still too early to tell what may have caused Brittany's death, reports are surfacing she was very ill and vomiting prior to collapsing, and may have been on prescription medication for flu-like symptoms. Brittany's mother who discovered her daughter's body said her daughter was a diabetic. Despite strong protests from her husband Simon Monjack, the Los Angeles police will be launching an investigation into her untimely death and plan to conduct an autopsy.
