Reality TV Stars Are Killing My Soul
Having officially climbed up on the Soapbox, and girded my loins, I am now ready to get something of portent off my chest.
I hate, hate, HATE reality television — well let me clarify that — what I really hate are the fartsniffs who become "stars" on these shows. There once was a time when a "star" was someone who had a discernible talent that made them famous. However, those innocent, wondrous and golden years are over.
We can blame MTV for this B.S. First it was The Real World, which aired in 1992 and since then, the "real TV" world has degraded into a cesspool of idiocy, skankocity and douchery. Think about it. Because of manufactured reality television, Paris Hilton is a star, Kim Kardashian is a role model and Jersey Shore's Snooki is something to aspire too. Then there's the worst of the worst of the very absolute most deplorable worst: Spencer and Heidi Pratt.
Another MTV monstrosity, The Hills, spawned these two absolute duds, and Spencer Pratt is the epitome of what's wrong with these young, do-nothing-of-worth, have-nothing-to-offer kids. Just barely even high school grads are thrust into the limelight, given wads of cash and forum for which to spew their retarded (and I mean that literally) malignancy onto our impressionable youth.
They launch clothing lines, perfumes, write memoirs, star in movies, yet none of them possess any real talent for ANY of these venues other than behaving outlandishly and embarrassing themselves. These talentless schlubs, who would otherwise wander aimlessly through life were it not for the predatorial agents and managers who swoop in, tell them they are worthy of all the adoration, cash in while the gettin's good, are creating a tsunami of mediocrity and lowered expectations in their wake.
