Rappers Drake and Nicki Minaj are known for internet gimmicks and pranks. But on Friday, the label mates confused bloggers and fans everywhere after posting tweets hinting that they had secretly eloped.
Rumors of marriage began circulating when Minaj tweeted "U scurred? @drakkardnoir you ready to make the announcement or what?"
After Drake responded with "Please refer to @nickiminaj as Mrs. Aubrey Drake Graham. And don't stare at her for long. She's finally mine :)" Nicki tweeted:
"Yes, its true. Drake and I tied the knot. RT @nickiminaj @drakkardnoir Baby I am never scared. PROUD is more the word I would use."
The media circus was almost immediate.
Top urban gossip sites like Mediatakeout and Bossip quickly reported on the alleged marriage. E! later confirmed from Young Money reps that the two had not eloped and that the tweets were just a prank.
