Michael Moore....Here Comes Trouble
You go Michael Moore!
I have a love/hate view of Elizabeth Hasselbeck. I like her passion and her go get 'em attitude, but sometimes.....she just can't get out of her own head and get the point.
Yesterday, Michael Moore sat down with the ladies of The View. The discussion came up about Osama Bin Laden and his right to a trial.
Of course there are arguments on this topic, BUT Michael Moore's point was that everyone has a right to a trial....it is a principle we, as American's, founded.
The ladies of the view could not get off the fact that they didn't want Osama Bin Laden to look like a martyr. I get that, but what I don't get is who says if the trial should be public or not? I mean....is it really a fair trial if the entire media world is commentating on it as it happens? Who really knows if jurors see clips they shouldn't have....especially when these things find a way to be on every channel worth watching 24/7. Isn't there such a thing as classified information?
My point is, I believe EVERYONE has a right to a trial (Constitution day is Saturday Sept. 17th....Bin Laden is not an American, but he is human and to be human everyone deserves to be treated as they wish to be treated,) and a right to a trial doesn't mean that it should be open to the public media during the litigation....yes, certain things need to remain classified for the greater good.
Again...to reiterate Michael's point in the words of a country singer....you've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything.
Check out Michael Moore's new memoir. Click to hear what he wanted to talk about on The View when he got another chance during his interview with NPR. I knew from the time I saw Michael Moore's first documentary that he was a stand up guy. I know I am going to go out and read this book
