The Tiger Woods Lesson: The Bigger They Are The Harder They Fall
Florida police have officially dropped their investigation into the Tiger Woods one-car accident, leaving the golf pro with a $164 ticket, 4 points on his license and a few shoulder shrugs from the authorities. This is probably great news for Tiger, who successfully dodged the police and their efforts to question him further about the incidents surrounding his crash. However, if Tiger thinks he's out of the PR sandtrap, he's wrong. Tiger's troubles are just beginning.
In the same week as Tiger Woods' little fender bender, actor David Hasselhoff was taken to Cedars Sinai hospital and placed under a 5150 hold, a term used for patients whose mental state is deemed a potential harm to themselves or others. The former Baywatch actor had suffered what was alleged to be an alcohol-related seizure. Hasselhoff is well known in tabloid circles for having an alcohol problem, coincidentally his ex-wife Pamela Bach received her second DUI in one year the same weekend. Why weren't these two fairly scandalous incidents bigger news beyond the celeb sites — because Hasselhoff and Bach are known to have problems, what's one more.
The same can not be said for Tiger Woods and the Tiger Woods brand. These lucrative entities are built on a squeaky clean image, one unsullied by tawdry reports of drunken debauchery and sexual misconduct, well, until now. Woods, who so famously guards his private life that he named his yacht "Privacy" may suddenly be wishing for a more tarnished image.
When the National Enquirer reported they'd caught Tiger Woods engaging in an extramarital affair, most folks rolled their eyes. This is Tiger Woods we're talking about, not Tommy Lee, plus, it's the National Enquirer and aren't they known for outrageous alien sightings and other outlandish claims? Yes they are, but in recent years they've hit pay dirt with some valid stories, including the famous Senator John Edwards affair, which likely cost him his bid for president. So, sometimes even a blind squirrel gets a nut, or in this case, a cheating husband.
