Meredith Baxter Comes Out With Dignity
Actress Meredith Baxter, best known as the mom from the hit 80's sitcom Family Ties spoke with the media today about rumors circulating the tabloids of her possibly being gay. Unlike some celebs who find themselves suddenly thrust into the spotlight unwillingly, Meredith handled the situation with dignity and grace.
Appearing on the Today Show with Matt Lauer, Meredith addressed the National Enquirer story which ran recently after Baxter was spotted on a lesbian cruise in the Caribbean with a 'female friend.' Baxter decision to come forward was based on her desire to do it on her terms, she told Lauer "I didn't want some tabloid to take the story and make it up. I wanted it to be in my own words."
Baxter, who has been married three times and has five children, stated that she discovered her sexuality switch later in life and that anyone who is close to her knows she is gay. According to Meredith, she has led an openly gay lifestyle with her partner of four years, Nancy Locke, a building contractor.
Well, good for you Meredith for being who you are an proud of it.
