Infographic: The Definitive Comparison Guide to Location Based Social Networks
The location based social networking space (LBSN) fascinates me. And with the arrival of Facebook Places the space is going to heat up fast.
But when I first set out to discover the ideal LSBN for my lifestyle it was a difficult process. There were a few comparison guides between Foursquare, Gowalla and MyTown but nothing that covered all of the major players in the space. Therefore the process (at least for me) took several weeks and several experiments with each of the Tier 1 LBSN’s.
Well instead of making you suffer through the same process, I decided to make a decision guide for you in order to help choose which LBSN to use.
Time to Participate in Location Based Services
Despite the anti-LBSN rhetoric from Forrester, the Location Based Services market is here to stay. There’s no question that it’s going to change business forever. In fact, Facebook Places will forever change how we view retail business.
For example, currently you can friend or like a business and you are automatically added to their fan page. Now imagine seeing a detailed history of your friends that have visited the business, left messages, tips, reviews or photos all on one page.
Then imagine walking down the street and your mobile notifies you that six of your friends loved the food at a restaurant just around the corner. In fact, two of them are their now. Why don’t you go meet them and receive 25% off your first meal.
