Come See the Harder Side of Sears: Retailer’s Site Sells Leather Gear

These days, you can do some serious hard-core shopping at Sears.

Back in January, retail giant Sears opened its website to scores of other online retailers. Sears keeps a cut of sales from items offered on its website by other e-commerce operators. Of course, this merchandise typically can’t be found in brick-and-mortar Sears stores.

And you certainly won’t be able to buy at a Sears store one of the items that the company has for sale on its website—a men’s four-piece adjustable leather harness set, complete with arm bands and collar.

In 2010, you can get more for your alternative life at Sears, at least on the Internet.

Oh, and there’s also a men’s leather harness with attached pouch and a unisex adjustable leather harness (modeled by a guy). And let’s not leave out the ladies; for instance, there’s a leather spanking skirt with adjustable buckle closure (bottom picture), and a leather lace-up bra and G-string ensemble.

That’s just a sampling of the interestingly named “Elegant Moments” collection—which features hundreds of intimate leather and non-leather goodies—on the Sears website. It would take me more than a moment to figure out what sort of “elegant” occasion would be appropriate for a lot of this attire.

And some of it’s just a little too provocative for a Midwestern boy like me to display here. But if you want to take a peek at all the “Elegant Moments” offerings, head on over to the Sears website. Victoria’s Secret, eat your heart out.

Links on the ads for the “Elegant Moments” items indicate they actually come from an online outfit called SkimpyOutfits.com.

Hmmm. I’m curious how Sears co-founders Richard W. Sears and Alvah C. Roebuck would feel about ready-for-the-boudoir leather gear being sold by the retail empire they launched back in 1893. Would it make them blush? Or would they simply see dollar signs?
